Wade
Street is an active church, determined to communicate God's relvance in
the world today, in its worship, study and action, and in the everyday
lives of its members.
At Wade Street Church, we meet regularly to worship God, to encourage one another, to help meet the needs of the community, and to tell other people about the fact that Jesus Christ is alive today and making a difference in the world.
We are ordinary people who live and work in and around Lichfield. We are made up of elderly people, young people, families, children, single people, professional people, manual workers, people without jobs - in fact, all the different sorts of people you'd find living in any part of Lichfield.
Our Sunday services are quite informal, with a friendly atmosphere, plenty of music, special items for the children in the mornings, and teaching from the Bible dealing with the issues which face all of us in our everyday lives. We see much of the teaching as helping people creatively to relate the message of the Bible to their lives in a post-modern world.
During the week we have Bible study groups, prayer meetings, a Toddler Group, a youth group (The M.O.B.), children's events and many others which happen on a more occasional basis, including Alpha groups for those who want to explore what Christianity is all about.
As individuals, we are involved in all aspects of the life of the local community. We also have a keen interest in global justice, and political and social issues, and are active supporters of TEAR Fund, Christian Aid, The Baptist Missionary Society, The Council for World Mission, Youth With A Mission and The Lichfield Christian Schools' Work Trust.
If you've never been to church before, if it's a long time since you last went to church, or if you're used to a different kind of church, we'll try to help you feel at home with what's going on. On Sunday mornings there are children's activities and a crèche, as well. If you want to, you can get a cup of tea or coffee after the morning service, which lasts just over an hour, and talk to some of the people who come along regularly.
